The Washington Post recently reported that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida is seeking to hire 40 foreign working. This request was sent to the Labor Department, despite the president’s hardline views on immigration. In response, Linda Chavez, director for the Becoming American Initiative, released the following statement:
“Mar-a-Lago’s actions speak louder than President Trump’s words when it comes to immigration. Its request for 40 foreign workers demonstrates the intense demand for labor facing nearly all businesses in today’s economy which is at full employment. All American employers should have the right to do what Donald Trump’s businesses do and hire immigrants on work visas if they can’t find the American labor. Expanded work visas based on market-needs, not government-rhetoric, must be part of any immigration solution.”
